I couldn't agree more. $3.5k for a prettied-up studio? Crazy.

And even the 'nice top' is just a regular AA.

I agree that it's in a Very Nice Colour but what, exactly, is so special about the specs?
They've put the neck pup on back-to-front and mis-matched the knobs. Somehow this makes it an Artists' Sig?

P.

True.
Here's mine:
* LP Standard faded $1400
* BKP PG Blues pickups (Out of phase in middle pos ) $300
* Mismatched knobs $20
A total of $ 1720 !!
Case closed.
3.5 k is just ridiculous!

Your's is even better because, as Bence pointed out a bit earlier, the new Sig hasn't even got a flipped magnet - they've simply turned the p'up around!
(And I always had a soft spot for the Standard Faded in any case)

Gibson should have re-introduced that guitar instead of this one IMHO...

This whole "signature" thing is out of control in the first place.

I just don't get it TBH..

I've looked and it says it's a Standard. Which it's not. It's deceiving as it looks like it has body moulding. But it's just the maple top showing. Plus. It's not even a rosewood board.

+1.

Binding on both the body and the neck are two of the distinguishing features which separate the Standard from the Studio. To call this model a Standard is almost fraudulent.

I don't have any problems accepting the Granadillo 'board, however.

It exploded on to the Gibson scene last year or so when the Rosewood problem cropped up...

There was a "limited issue" version of this back in 2000.
I took my younger brother to Peter Cook's in Hanwell, London to buy one, when they came out. Great guitar - it had the same lemonburst finish (the one we got had a nicer stripe than the new pics) and the same faux binding and unbound fingerboard, as this re-release, but had uncovered (original) burstbuckers, (not pro's) with a zebra in the neck. Looked really cool. Proper case with nice royal blue interior and shroud (with Gary Moore signature). (Unfitted) scratchplate with GM signature too.. From memory, it was well priced, but Peter Cook's always had good deals going on....

S T E V E had one of those (do you remember him?). He sold it thinking he was about to loose his job but his job turned out to be safe. I remember being gutted because at that time I could have bought it but missed out.

It would be cool if S T E V E paid us a visit!

I agree.

It's been five months since he last visited, though, so perhaps he found better ways to spend his time. Here's hoping!
