Could you recognize this Gibson Les Paul?

Recommended Posts

Hi! Everbody,

I'm newbie from Turkey. I have Gibson Les Paul Speacial Faded (Worn yellow) and Gibson SG Faded (Ebony fretboard with crescent inlays.)

I will buy a used higher class Gibson Les Paul (at the link.)

Seller says it's deluxe. There was a missing trust rod cap that "DELUXE" writings on it. But there is no mini humbuckers. Neck is thin '60s neck. So it looks like Les Paul Standart 60's. This is it's serial number 00170433.

Could you recognize this model please? I need your help. Thank you.

Welcome here, but I am sorry since I don't have any good news for you.

Close ups would be useful to check for fret nibs and bridge studs, but I think there is red alert already due to the back of the peghead. Numbers and letters appear to be outlined which says it's a fake. Size and shape of the peghead are unclear, too in my opinion. Furthermore, the size of the pickup rings is too wide for Gibson's, and looks like that of an Epiphone. The toggle switch washer also seems to be an Epiphone part.

Gibson has been replied my e-mail. Like this:

Dear Erdeniz,

Thank you for your interest in Gibson.

The guitar appears to be original; the serial number refers in our database also to a Les Paul Standard, but in honey burst, with chrome hardware, from the year 2000, made in Nashville, Tennessee.

You can find attached the specifications. It is not a special model or so.

If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact me again.

Kind regards,

Message:

Dear Officer, I want an information about a Gibson guitar. It is serial number is 00170433. It looks like year 2000 gibson les paul standart. But in the past there was a "deluxe" writing on truss rod cap. There is no mini humbuckers. They are classic PAF. Neck is '60 thin. Is it a special one? Do you know this series? I will be happy if you inform me. Thank you. this is the link: http://www.sahibinden.com/ilan/alisveris-muzik-muzik-aletleri-gibson-les-paul-standart-deluxe-2000-137764739/detay/

I have been confused. Today i refused to buy this guitar. Does Gibson Office stumble?

I don't think they stumble at Gibson. My assumption is that the faked guitar bears a serial number which indeed is consistent with an authentic Gibson instrument with similar looks. Honestly, I am considering to remove either serial numbers or colours of my instruments from my signature since they could facilitate faking guitars.
