carpenter1984
Hello, I have an offer to buy a Les Paul Standard manufactured in Custom Shop in 2008. The finish is ultra rare Wine Sparkle / Dark Red Sparkle - I know they exist, but they are so rare, that I would appreciate your help in verifying whether this one is genuine. Serial: CS 88195 The owner says it is a 50th anniversary R7 in fact. It has R7 stamped inside: And here are some photos of the guitar: So is it in fact a Historic 50th anniversary R7 painted like that? Thank you very much for any info on this one. retrorod
On my part, a 2008 does not excite me........jes Sayin'.... I guess it could be the original finish, especially since it is in the control cavity also?
capmaster
No nibs.... To my eyes, the nibs or nubs are rather small as common with narrow bindings.
capmaster
To my eyes and glasses - they are not visible They look just like on my 1978 Standard and 2013 FZ "Roxy" Gibson SGs. Pippy recently posted pics of the nubs on his RI Les Paul guitars, and they looked about the same, too. The modern, wide bindings will make for wider nubs which significantly decrease the usable fret width. They start at the full fret wire height while the narrow ones don't. These are entirely within the radiused fret edges and so less obvious when viewed from the side. A perpendicular front view would clearly show they are there.
