superfret
Can I use regular black electrical tape to replace the damaged coil tape that is around the uncovered humbuckers on my SG? Can't seem to get an answer on this.
retrorod
Why would you want to do that? Just curious!
superfret
Because I can't find the proper coil tape, so I just wondered if it is ok to use the elecrical tape I have on hand. Does it make a difference as to which one I use. I understand that it is just to protect the coils from dirt or moisture?
retrorod
I am not sure of any reason not! I would ask searcy http://forum.gibson.com/index.php?/user/13897-searcy/ He winds pickups and is fairly active in Gibson Lounge area of the Forum. He could give you the answer. superfret
Thanks for the info. I'll try that. I can't see that it would make any difference either. Just want to be sure though before I proceed.
