Tony611
How can I test a pickup to see if it is working properly? Any info would be appreciated.
Ryan H
Take a multimeter (or ohmmeter), turn it to the 10k range (on the resistance/ohms setting on a multimeter) and touch the contacts to the hot and ground wire coming out of the pickup. If you get an "infinity" reading, the pickup's dead. -Ryan
Tony611
Thanks for the quick reply Ryan I'll try that.
L5Larry
If you get an "infinity" reading, the pickup's dead. -Ryan Or a "zero" reading. "Infinity" means the coil is broken. "Zero" means the coil is shorted. A resistance reading somewhere around 7K ohms is "normal".
