Paul Isbell Posted April 5, 2014 Share Posted April 5, 2014 Today I gave my brand new, 2 month old, Epiphone EJ-200ce a polish, to which some small white smudgy spots came to my attention underneath the pickguard, unto the cutaway. The spots look as though it has been rubbed and smeared, and can only be truly seen on the stage or under direct light. I take very good care of my instruments, especially due to the fact it is brand new, therefore I'm very surprised to see these spots show up. Have anyone else noticed this problem, and if so, did it end up being an Epiphone finishing problem, a humidity problem, or just plain old guitar wear from heavy strumming? cliffmac Posted April 5, 2014 Share Posted April 5, 2014 First off did you wax it or polish? I never use anything other than a clean very soft dry cloth. Try a slightly damp soft cloth and see if it comes out if so its wax in the scratches if not it very well could be a flaw in the finish. Good luck.
