misteerbees
Hiya, just joined this formum from the UK with the hope of wracking some gibson expert brains. I have recently aquired an SG that dates to 1968. it has volume and tone pots and a vibrola that has been removed and replaced with a wrap around bridge that suggest to me (no way an expert) that it is a junior. However it also has 2 P90 pickups that are embossed with the gibson logo (which i thought suggest they are from the early 70's) The pickup selector appears to be vintage gibson, which would point me towards thinking it is a special? Weirdest of all it has an XLR output, that is now disconnected. Can anyone hepl me determine if this is indeed a junior and also if the modifications were done in factory or aftermarket? also why would it have an XLR would this suggest that it once belonged to a recording artist? have now included some pictures of the beauty!! that sounds like a beast

The tailpiece might be stock but it probably only had one pickup originally. The XLR is also probably an add-on.
John Rutherford
Looks like a single pickup model altered to a 2 pickup. Strange they went to all the trouble to rout out the body and alter the pickguard for the neck PU but didn't drill the rear cavity for the extra vol and tone pots, there's plenty room in the cavity for the two PU wiring and pots. DiamondJig
The wrap around bridge looks old school like it's for a wound "G" not a solid "G" the string post would be behind the "D" and not in front of it.
