Tober Posted April 14, 2014 Share Posted April 14, 2014 I have a 2003 les Paul classic that I want to change the color. I love the guitar but was never a huge fan of the tobacco burst. I got a really good deal on it so I couldn't pass it up. I'm looking for a guy in the New Jersey area that is good at refinishing guitars. I decided that I want it in flat black and will add some pin stripping to it in the future. If any knows a guy could you please recommend someone in the New Jersey area. I don't know how many he paints, but he would know who to go to if he can't do it himself at this time. Hotfoot Posted April 18, 2014 Share Posted April 18, 2014 Generally you'll lose some value when you refinish, plus the $$ you put out for the job itself is gone. Think carefully about just selling the guitar and buying a black one, if that is what you want...you could steel wool the finish down to a nice even matte and be $$ ahead.
