Paul E
Right now on mine I use DR Sunbeam's light gauge but in the past I tried John Pearse 80/20 in new medium gage. Both good strings, you just have to experiment and see what strings give the sound you like from your guitar.

western viking
I like darrio Exp strings for volume or even elixir.......I always play with medium gauge strings but I do love the tone of Martin SP strings and they have great feel.....

zombywoof
Don't think it has anything to do with what the top is made of but I have settled down with Curt Mangan stings and the DR Sunbeams. I also like the DR Rares but prefer to stick with the Sunbeams because they are wound on a round core. I prefer medium gauge but do use the medium-lights on my oldest guitars
michaelnel
John pearse PB light are great on AJs. This morning I installed a set of John Pearse 80/20 Bluegrass (.12-56) on my J45 Standard. I like the additional brightness they bring to this otherwise darkish sounding guitar.

kevbo82
suggestions are great, but you really DO have to experiment. I've always loved/played john pearse PB strings. Just got an old J50 and put them on there thinking "this really make it sound good!" and the guitar just hated them! Sounded worse played worse, just wasn't a match. When i got the guitar it had elixer's on it, they sounded and felt good. I tried some martin 80/20's and d'adarrio PB's. i'm more of a PB guy, gonna try to the EXP PB's next.
