Starpeve
Well, I went into Allan's/BillyHyde here in Adelaide, South Australia, Tuesday to pick up the pr5e hard case for my little e/a, only to find it was damaged in transit . Whilst I was waiting for all the paperwork to generate, I laid my eyes upon a guitar( read - vision of loveliness) that sat on a stand behind the counter. A natural Casino, looking like a piece of art on display. My First. A Casino virgin. I was lost. I now have to sell at least some of my beloved vinyl LP collection to pay for that which I can ill- afford. Ps- marked down from 1150 au to 690 au- what else could I do? charlie brown
Had a similar experience, 4 Times, last year, with 4 different Gibson SG's! Insanity? Probably...but, an affliction I'm delighted with! CB

Starpeve
I was so stricken that I was able to overcome my usual reluctance and plug it in with customers all around me and play it for 45 mins, something I'm usually too shy to do. Even had one of the staff come over , I thought to turn it down but he turned it UP so I could get some distortion! :-)
Starpeve
Well, I started to catalogue my LPs on the weekend in readiness for the Casino funding exercise- ain't gonna happen. Each one of those little babies holds a bookful of memories for me. I figure when the Alzheimer's kicks in I can use 'em to prompt my brain!! Then I started to itemise all the bits that make up my turntable- seems I'll need it to play my LP's! Oh we'll, there's always my big old juggernaut of Harmon- Karden pre/power amp set........seems I can't bring myself to part with 4 grand's worth of old school amplification for the 400 odd bucks I'm likely to get for 'em. Should I start looking through all my tools? It's a bit of a quandary as my missus has declared ( on the heels of my b****ing about her spending !) that my Casino must be self- funded - which is fair enough- but what's a bloke to do? Starpeve
The term shithouse comes to mind..... I can see the sign now- "Will sing for Casino"
Brian Cecil
what's a bloke to do? Have you considered selling blood? Its much better than selling body parts because its self-replenishing, thus paving the way for more potential income later. And since you have a lot of free time available while the needle's inside you, you can practice singing a song, like "Love Hurts."
Starpeve
Great, Brian, I got a giggle out of that! That could well turn into " Endless Love" !
Starpeve
I think I may be sneaking in under the radar- I had put the Casino on 'lay-by' as it's called here in Oz,to hold it at that price, and bit by bit I'm whittling away at it. Either the ' Minister of War' has forgotten about it, or she's sick of complaining! Either way, I'm closing in on the target.
Starpeve
I finally picked it up! Ordered a hard case online through Allans , so I had something to carry it home in. , and picked 'em both up yesterday arvo . I was too busy to do much with it last night , but today I took it to a mate's place and toyed with it for a while through a 100 w Yamaha amp which he has . ( I never realised 'til today what an amp this is!!! I don't recall it's model etc but it has metal dust caps on the cones and is so tight it hurt my ears with it's percussive snap ! ) . I then came home for another session . Has you seen that 'Rolling Stone' cover with Townsend cupping his face in his hand ,his expression pensive , with blood running down his fingers ? Well that's how my left hand feels right now ! What a guitar ! I was a little uncertain when I first started to play with it , but then it all slipped into gear and mmmmmmmmm.... Starpeve
Unfortunately, the photos I've taken in no way do this little sweetheart justice. In the flesh she's sooo pretty. I'm amazed at how she sounds through effects, too. Lovely bell - like chiminess when clean, and a monster when driven hard. I've read some comments about the p-90's being too hot, but I'm finding that all I need to do is turn the pups way down and everything's hunky- dory For this reason I think I may end up putting linear taper vol pots in as I'm fairly sure they're audio tapers . I'll try to take some decent pics to upload
dougg330
Congrats - you're going to love your Casino. I had a similar experience today. Went into Guitar Center with my friend who needed strings. Wandering around, I spied an Epi ES-335 Pro. I played it, and I was hooked. Going back tomorrow to pick it up.
bonzoboy
I fell in love with the first natural finish Casino I saw and bought it then and there. My Casino was made in Indonesia and it sounds and plays great. I paid $550 + tax for mine and thought that was a decent deal considering the quality of guitar that I got.My Casino and Epis in general are far superior to almost all guitars in their price range and they are of far better quality than many guitars costing substantially more. Starpeve
List price bloody 1200 smackers in Australia, Bonzoboy ! Once I laid eyes on it, I was a goner . And Dougg, I'm lovin' it right now! As I'm sure you will with that 335! Congrats.
