PlanetBen
Hi folks, I was just wondering if anyone knew what gauge/type of strings came as standard on the Epiphone Viola Bass. I purchased by bass in 2007 and the strings that came with it worked perfectly. I replaced them recently as they were starting to look old - I replaced them with Rotosound Flatwound 40-90 and it just doesn't sound good at all. It would be great to go back to the type of bass strings that come as standard but I could do with knowing the specs. Thanks! Ben
offhand35
Ben, when I had my Viola ( I have other Epiphone basses now) I found that it REALLY sounded good with D'Addario Regular Light Gauge Medium Scale Flatwound strings, 45/65/80/100, product code ECB81M. These gave the Viola a presence and tonal range that really stood out on stage.
