They look great. The '53 looks mint. It's just gorgeous. And what can I say - I want the '63 !!!

Thanks AlanC. The '53 was my father's guitar since new. He played it a lot, but he really looked after it and it's still in great shape. I inherited it a few years ago. The '63 was also a one-owner local guitar that I purchased from the original owner. He was a pro player, but he mostly used electric guitars on gigs, so this one wasn't used that much and is in excellent condition. I am very fortunate to have these two.

JimR56: Wow! Those are unbelievable.

Thanks Keith. Yours are amazing too, particularly that '53 L5CES. If you have any more photos of that, I'm sure I'm not the only one here who would love to see them! :)

Here's an old group shot, with a 1958 Super 400CESN and a 1962 Johnny Smith (both of which I sold)

Really great guitars Jim. Luv the Super 400 but all look great. Have you still got the '63 L5CT? I own 2 CT's both are new ones but I personally prefer playing the CT to the full bodied guitar cos of the comfort factor. It just feels snug and the sound is still awesome. For me L series guitars give you so much guitar. It's hard to explain but once you play them it feels like you are finally home.

Thanks Alan. Yes, I still have the two L5's. I agree with what you say about the CT's. Mine sounds every bit as full as a regular L5. In terms of playability, I can't even describe how comfortable my '63 is. I got it in 1990, and it had already been played heavily and dinged and scratched, but it practically plays itself. It may be the only guitar I've ever owned that I knew I could never part with.

Sleeko, that's a stunner. To me, even if they're calling that "wine red", the color looks pretty close to a traditional cherry red (but I still tend to associate the term "wine red" with those very dark red finishes from the '70's).

[thumbup] Thanks, appreciate that. Indeed, she's like a nice Merlot!
