XXWIDE
Sorry to sound stupid here, but I have the same exact question. I guess what I want to know is, what is the difference between figured and plain? The pictures look identical.
BigKahune
. There's graining (from the growth rings of the tree the wood was cut from), and there's figuring (other visually noticeable elements that can come from the grain, the cut, or the specific properties of the wood type). In the pic just below, you can see a plain top with no figuring, just some faint grain lines running more or less parallel to the strings. In the second pic below, you can see the figuring in the maple top running perpendicular to the strings. . B) Plain top Figured (flamed maple) For an LP - plain top - all you can see is the grain lines running more or less parallel to the strings - Figured top (flamed maple) with the figuring running more or less perpendicular to the strings
Larsongs
Yeah, the wood has more flame in it than the Plain. Hence, Figured. Lars
XXWIDE
Wow, Thanks guys... So simple. I want an ebony model so plain top it is, and save a few hundred to boot!
