Do I have a fake?

I recently acquired a Gibson SG Special. I have some question as to it's authenticity because all the other SG specials in Sapphire Blue from 2004 are hand numbered on the back such as 3/200. This particular one is not. Please help me out.

.

Looks genuine to me.

Send Gibson a pic, explain what's up, and ask them what they have on record for the serial# - service@gibson.com

.

Support both opinion and recommendation. [thumbup] No alarm signals, clearly a real Gibson SG to my eyes - congrats!

Thanks for all the replies. The only reason I was concerned was because this particular color (Sapphire Blue) was a special color for Guitar Center this year and all the other ones I have seen have been hand marked on the back like 42/300 or 100/300. This particular one is not. I suppose it is entirely possible that the marker it was written with has rubbed off or something. At any rate, thanks again for putting my mind at ease. Thank you everybody who replied.

  • 3 weeks later...

Maybe it's a case of exceeding the "limited run " which is not rare for Gibson. As in the case of the numbered Lennon Casinos ( the real deal 1965 issue ). Pissed a lot of people off in the "Beatle" community. Anyway...your SG sure looks real to me.
