Dennis G Posted July 24, 2014 Share Posted July 24, 2014 I've owned 12 strings over the years and a couple of years ago jumped back in with a cheapo Epi (DR 212). I use D'Addario EJ38's (10-47). I don't tune down and have had no issues over the past two years. I think that older 12's do need to tune down but I think the mfgr's have caught up to the additional tension created and have compensated. YMMB.
