In 1996 I was in Chicago and late to check in to my economy seat flight to Paris. I went over to the empty business class counter and politely asked the woman if I could check in for my economy seat because I was late. She said sure then asked me what I was doing. I said well I'm going to see my grandmother in Paris then go to an MRI meeting in Nice. I told her in French that my Grandmother was 94 years old. She looked at me and said" well how would you like to fly business class to see your Grandmother?" I said, "I love Air France!". I've been spoiled ever since and use miles or whatever to fly that way ever since. Now, most have lie flat seats so you can sleep. Critical with a bad back and an 11 hour flight.
