wintermoon
I got the latest issue of VG w/the article. Gruhn pretty much confirmed it as the prototype Super 400. the family provided photos which show the changes the guitar went through over the yrs, incuding tailpiece, tuners, and truss rod cover as well as the top refinish. one thing the article said was that it originally had bound f holes, but that it does not today. I wonder how that came about unless it was possibly retopped? is the family keeping the guitar or selling it?
Mysterious G
I am honored to say that the guitar is now part of the personal collection of Mr. George Gruhn. It was our decision, as a family, to place the guitar in the care of someone who we felt would appreciate it and care for it as it deserves. If you would like the opportunity to see it, and possibly play it for a bit, take a trip to Nashville. I'm sure George will be proud to share it with you ! After spending many years locked away in the case, it is once again making beautiful music and bringing joy to others. That is all we could hope for !
