Pesh
You could mistake one "0" but that is ridiculous! I've just had a look about online; the same model first-hand is still £6999 in the UK, and the Martin catalogue says RRP is "suggested" at $9999. HOW?! I can't see how any guitar that isn't vintage is worth so much as a standard. Am I missing something? I'm a John Mayer fan but I could never justify that. mountainpicker
But, it has gen-u-ine loco-bolo back and sides and the Martin logo! It MUST be worth $22k.
EuroAussie
I played that specific model in London Denmark St a few months back and felt very underwhelmed by it. From what I recall it sounded dark, tubby and slugish. Didnt grab me at all.

RichG
Not defending the seller, but that one is one of 25, probably not what's for sale at GC for $8K. To me, that makes no difference, but to some body it might. As a big Geoff Muldaur fan I searched for a signature 0018H that Martin released a few years ago. They are very hard to find but when one comes up the price is not inflated because of the signature. I guess John Mayer is better known then Geoff. I think Rich G is right here the link you have is for the 00-42sc the seller has his guitar listed as the 00-45sc these are two different yet very similar looking guitars. The 00-45sc was limited to 25 pieces worldwide while the 00-42sc is a current production model. https://www.martinguitar.com/guitar-care/care-guide/inactive-models/item/936-00-45sc-john-mayer.html

This is very confusing. I see what you mean about the one at GC. Meanwhile other online vendors seem to sell new ones at $3500. In looking at UMGF I found a post announcing the introduction of the OMJM limited to 25 at $13,999. Certainly a long way from $22,000 however you look at it. Three different guitars with the same name? I'm used to three different names for the same guitar so I guess anything is possible

Gralst
It's not my intention to either defend or dismiss the E Bay guitar but it's important to note that it's NOT a 00-42SC ...it's a very limited (25) 00-45SC. Truly limited edition high end (can't go higher than a 45 trim level) Martins usually sell for more than list from the beginning and appreciate from day one. Everyone is entitled to their opinion as to what any particular guitar is "worth" but it's erroneous thinking to conclude that because something isn't within your personal realm of economics that it's ridiculous. It won't be ridiculous when the guitar bought today for $22K is sold for $35K in a few years. That may not be your personal playground but there are a lot of other kids out there on that playground.
