Gibson 1979 'the SG'

I've searched the archives and I might have missed it, but I couldn't find any threads regarding the walnut bodied 'the SG'

I bought one new in 1979, gigged thru the 80-90's with it as my #1 teamed with my Musicman 210 -75RP.

I still have it, all original, in great shape considering it's war record..a little buckle rash, the matte finish polished to a high gloss on the top from endless rubbings of my arm and shirts when I was 'wang chunging '

It still has plenty of fret life left but a re-fret would be something I will do when necessary...

Just wondering if any y'all have one and what your thoughts are about it.?

I know it isn 't the prettiest Bat shape out there but I love the sustain And the neck above some of my more expensive guitars.

Those Norlin-era Gibsons were not pretty by any stretch, but built like tanks.

What made me drool is when you spoke of the amp. I lament greatly selling my MM RD-50. So stupid in my youth.

Yeah, love that Musicman...you sold a good amp but I have also done similiar things...In I974 i bought a 65 fender XII 12 string for 25 bucks (mint) and turned it into a six string, butchered the body trying to ' streamline' it...Fender Karma is gonna get me.

Funny, the Musicman amps are still underated and still can be had reasonably cheap compared to a Fender,I have a Blackface 65 Princeton reverb and a 69 Silverface Bandmaster but still prefer the Musicman...its all orig. except for reisssue casters.

I promised a pic of my '79 Gibson The 'SG' ...here it is with it's partner in crime , 1980 Musicman 210-75 RP...the three us play the club scene from 1980 thru 1992.

Only pedals I used was a Dyna-comp, Morley Wah, and occasionally the Reverb/Phaser on board the amp.
