capmaster Posted September 29, 2014 Share Posted September 29, 2014 It may depend on setup, in particular pickup adjustment, amp settings, and speakers, but the differences would be within a reasoable range then. Is this about the P bass in your gear list? I don't like to say that, but it could indeed be a PU problem as you assumed. In case of a very big difference in level between the lower and upper string pairs and a split PU, perhaps some windings of the upper strings coil are shorted out. Someone must have the gear for measuring inductance to achieve a valid result. If one coil reads significantly lower than the other one, it is likely to be shorted partly.
