tune o matic bridge

RD77

Recommended Posts

I have a 1979 RD77 artist it has 2 toggle switches not three. I bought this back in 1985 from a local music store. The owner who I know said parents bought it for their son and he never played it. The tune o matic bridge is gold like rest of the hardware and is the abr-1 type. It was missing the clip for the saddles when I got it. I have a 1977 rd77 artist bought used in mid 90's I dont know the history but it has the regular tune o matic bridge gold it is stamped made in germany on the bottem. My 83 explorer has same tune o matic but nickel and says made in germany on bottem. I would assume that my 79 would use same(made in germany) both rd's are kalamazoo made.(last 3 digits of serial less than 500) Other rd's I've seen on the internet have the normal bridge. does my 79 have the wrong tune o matic? I was told one time that 71 was the last year for the abr-1?

question 2 when did the logo gibson usa start appearing on parts and cases?
