RevDavidLee
I received a Sweetwater catalogue in the mail today - which surprised me after I told them not to bother me anymore. But, who doesn't like guitar porn so I got to flipping through the pages and found this gem. I'm not a big fan of Bigsby's and I already own an Orange Gretsch with one on it but this caught my eye and is just about to catch my wallet. I've got Gretsch G.A.S. guys.. They also come in red & black but the green one has my attention
cody78
Yeah, these ones look really good, especially the green one. I've been after a Cadillac Green Gretsch G6196T Country Club for the past 4 years now, but always end up buying something else instead... http://www.12fret.com/content/2013/05/06/cadillac-green-gretsch-g6196t-country-club/

Jimi Mac
It's definitely got mojo! Very car-color looking. It makes me think of 50's/60's cars and art-deco decor... Post some viddies of the orange one. I love hearing those Grestch picups...
surfpup
That's a beaut. I like the Georgia Green for sure. I've been pretty happy so far with my Electromatic Gretsch - and it was even cheaper that that one.

brc
I would not sneeze at any of them. Kind of partial to the green, or red, or black. Hell, thats all three. Really though, the green or red, or black, damn it, did it again. I guess its eney, meeney, miney moe. If you do pull the trigger on one of them, be sure and post some pics. Got my Sweetwater catalog about an hour ago, think I better take a look.
Dennis G
Gretsch has got it going on. I've had a 5122DC for a few years now (since discontinued) that I'm really happy with. After a long search for a Ric 360/12 I decided on this: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/G542212Bk It's not going to get the play time of a regular electric and for the coin, I couldn't be happier! Best to you on whichever one you get.
zigzag
What's not to love, except maybe the Bigsby. What kinda pups on those bad boys?

RevDavidLee
What's not to love, except maybe the Bigsby. What kinda pups on those bad boys? They call them Super Hilo Tron Humbuckers - says "you get all the high end chime plus plenty of low end punch", "from clean to mean" according to the verbiage. Sounds good to me
RevDavidLee
Okay I just ordered the Georgia Green one. Musicians Friend had a returned one in mint condition for $857 and that's the one I just bought. Their normal price for new is $974 where Sweetwater has them on sale for $899. So I figured that returned one was the cheapest I was going to get one for now. I also noticed that MF is sold out of the new ones (in Georgia Green anyway) and they are expected to get more on October 20th but anyone who is familiar with that line knows those "expected" dates change all the time. Obviously this being Saturday night almost midnight, mine won't ship until Monday so I expect it here by the end of next week easily. Will post a bunch of photos of course once she is in the house. Night all..

daveinspain
Hey Rev, do actually have time to bond with all these guitars…?
RevDavidLee
Lol Yes I am already taken. When we met I already had a huge amount of gear and gigging every weekend so she was aware with eyes wide open what she was getting into. She's my biggest fan and has never asked "why did you need another guitar, or amp, or pedal etc etc etc". That's one of the many reasons why I love her. RevDavidLee
Hey Rev, do actually have time to bond with all these guitars…? Yes I do. I retired early thanks to some great investments early on. So when I get up in the morning, I pour my coffee then pick up a guitar. Over the course of a day I'm in the studio most of the day (especially in the winter months) and I play all of my guitars every month. Life is good. Aster1
Lol - gotta be proud of where you live brother Yes I am sure it smells like a Christmas tree :) Well, if it doesn't smell like that fresh cut tree, a couple of drops of "ode de Pine" Christmas tree oil in the sound holes will fix that. Don't put too much in as it might dissolve the glue joints!! I do LOVE the Gretsch lineup a bunch. I really wouldn't give up my Caddy green Duo-Jet w/ Dyna's. Love the sound & how it handles too. Looks go w/o need to mention. Aster

Aster1
Daz like the one I has. I just love the gold & green together. It has such a great sound but then I really prefer SC pups anyway as they have that sound I like. Even the great burg. wine color case fur strips my trigger. Off topic: Man, feeling great now after just 60-70 miles on the Harley even my neck feels great. Helped me dodge a migraine from my neck yesterday after an afternoon ride.
