crust Posted October 15, 2014 Share Posted October 15, 2014 I have seen and heard how "nice" the Epiphone ES 339, "small body" semi acoustic is. I had to find out for myself. Since selling the Casino with the with the broken off head stock, which was perfectly repaired/reglued, I didn't have a "natural" guitar (Except for my old Greco, I'll be buried with that one...lol). Everything I had read about these guitars is true. So, thank you Gibson, for allowing Epiphone to make such a "perfect" guitar. You guys (and gals) know I have more electric guitars than an alley cat has fleas, but yes...this guitar, after looking it over very closely and playing it for a few hours, is absolutely perfect. I got some luthier horse hide glue and a bit of "finishing mixture" and glued and "oversprayed" the crack.....perfect ....again Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Looking at your pics taken over the years, you obviously have a well developed sense for nice guitars. However, I was a bit puzzled about your topic description saying "surprisingly 'perfect'". crust Posted October 15, 2014 Author Share Posted October 15, 2014 I have had couple Epiphone guitars with extremely small surface imperfections in the finish, like dust specks or something that got stuck in the finish and then been "picked off" of the finish during dry time...like something very small got on the surface of the guitar and stuck to it, then that thing got "picked off" leaving a small "witness mark". I also have had a couple that you could see white paint or glue "runs" on the inside surface of the body, on the inside surface of the back of the guitar. Those guitars did sound and play great though, and worked fine. Such "picking-off marks" are on my Epi 1960 Tribute Les Paul as well, so I know what you mean.
