On mine it really straightened out the base to treble imbalance and this is coming from a guy who used mostly Martin Marquis mediums for many years. The only problem is the buzz.... I believe they were Tusq but since it's a 1986 it could be original or might have been changed. If you can't tell, and the tone is everything you want (that's why you bought it) leave it alone.
