Strange looking Epi ES175

This guitar was absolutely legitimate. It was made for the European market, not for import into the US. Epiphone and Gibson often have models targeted to different markets with different features. These were brought back to the US by Gibson due to poor sales in Western Europe when the market collapsed. I got one and am glad I did before they were gone. As far as quality, it is as nice and well built as the Gibson ES175, the sound is great.

"Legitimate" yes, as it was made to Epiphone's specifications. It's still essentially a Jay Turser though --- same specs --- and doesn't really resemble an ES-175 in any but the most superficial aspects. Otherwise, it's a decent enough hollow body guitar.

Back around 2001 I played the Turser version side by side with an Epiphone Joe Pass in a store. The Joe Pass was far superior in every way and cost about $200 more. I bought the Joe Pass and it's still one of my favorite guitars ever.
