1962 J-45
I recently purchased A 1973 ES-335-TD. The neck needs to be reset. Can anyone recommend a good Luther in the Ocala, FL area? This is a beautiful guitar. It's walnut and is all original. The thought of packing it in a box and shipping it off to Nashville gives me the chills. L5Larry
Never heard of a 335 needing a neck reset. Why do you think it needs one? Or should I ask... why do you think there's no other remedy?
1962 J-45
The neck was removed by the previous owner for an unknown reason. It was not put back together correctly. It doesn't seat perfectly against the body. There is an approx. 1/32" gap. The guitar can't be setup until this is corrected as the action is already high way down on the neck and it will only become higher if the gap is closed. j45nick
Not in the Ocala area, but Ross Teigen, down in Naples, FL, has done a couple of Gibson neck re-sets for me, including my '68 ES 335-12. Not cheap, but he does a great job. Not sure of the neck tenon arrangement by 1973, as you're into Norlin territory.
retrorod
Ah yes....".Norlin Territory" can be mysterious and dangerous when it comes to Gibson.....Seriously!!!
1962 J-45
Thanks. If you don't mind me asking, how much is "not cheap"?
j45nick
Thanks. If you don't mind me asking, how much is "not cheap"? Around $500-$600, as I recall. Not atypical for a neck re-set by a good luthier.
