Perhaps the neck shape is closer to the very slim early 60's profile like that of the '61 Reissue SGs. They are told to be rather sensitive around the transition to the peghead. However, I never had any problems with my rather slim SG necks made in 1978 and 2013, and a similar slim 2013 Explorer neck. Perhaps I should add that I'm pretty careful with all of my guitars.
