Identifying Gibson L-series

Recommended Posts

If there is anyone out there who can help identify this Gibson L-series. I believe it is a late 1920's L-1 or L-0. I have seen conflicting information. The serial number inside appears to be FON 8943. Any help as to the year and the specific model would be appreciated. Also, is there a way to know what it's worth (for insurance purposes). Thanks in advance!

Hello Marty, welcome to the forum.

The guitar pictured is a 1928 Gibson L-1 according to the features and the factory order number. I offer appraisals for insurance purposes through my website. There are other companies that offer appraisals such as Gruhn Guitars, Elderly Instruments, RetroFret, etc. Feel free to contact me through my website so we can discuss it. My number is at the top of my home page.

Thanks for posting a wonderful old Gibson!

You may try to upload them to Photobucket and copy the URL into the thread using the picture icon. That seems to be the easiest way to do it.

You could also email them to me and I'll be happy to post them here. My email address is my handle @gmail.com.
