darkside mike
Finally got around to finishing my sg paint strip project. Turned out great in my opinion. Feels like a new guitar to me now and it's back in the rotation of guitars that actually get played. Thanks to everyone for the tips and advice (cjsinla, Rus, Retrorod, Jedediah, jedzep) Wouldn't have turned out so good without you guys chiming in. retrorod
Great job Mike! Looks super. What type of finish did you end up using? Tru-oil? Did you have to use any grain-filler? I am always nervous about stripping a painted guitar in fear that the wood is 'less than perfect" . Yours looks great!
darkside mike
Ordered in some casey tru-oil! No grain filler, and yes I was extremely nervous going into this, I originally started sanding the back before switching to acetone and as I started sanding I was asking myself what in the name of hell was I doing.. it's not a cheap guitar to start with. really lucked out on the results I think.. seems too good to be true :)
Thames
Wow, that's nice. Not all opaque finishes hide such nice wood grain under, you were lucky!
cjsinla
Not bad, definitely an improvement over the black.
