hoross
Yep after looking many times and years for the sound i wanted i went throug Gibson les paul studios,Classic antique,Standard 08 and the last one i had was a les paul classic 2014.Dont get me wrong they were all amazing but since my money is short i can keep only one and i bought the LP Traditional ocean blue guitar, well let me tell you these 59 pups are just amazing and cut like a razor and the sound stays more then a minute. They say the guitar is heavy for a traditional yes indeed its heavier then the others i had but i think its that heavy and the 50s rounded neck is really cool u feel really meat in your hand that guitar plays like butter.I can finally record the album i wanted there u go best Gibson lp i ever had. Well lets say they are all great but the traditional got something more...

btoth76
Hello! Â Before swapping out pickups, try new caps instead. Â You might be surprised and pleased! Not to mention, it's much cheaper than new pickups. Â I have got these in my 2011 Classic Custom: Â Â Cheers... Bence

Golden
i mean, wich one... Â Try out a few sets before you buy the Lollars. You may just want a more aggressive pick-up like the 57-57 plus. many of Alinco II can be considered bright. Same with Seths also BB 1 and 2 and 3. Or even Alnico Vs with the BB-Pro. Really is a matter of landing on that sweet spot for yourself. Many like the DiMarzio Anniversary also. Â I haven't heard the Lollars, I heard his P-90s but thats different. I haven't heard much about the Imperials which is what your talking about?
btoth76
i mean, wich one... Â Hello Denis. Â If You open up the cavity cover, You will find tiny blue capacitors soldered between the volume and tone pots. These set the frequency barrier of the treble-bleed (of the tone pots). Â They usually have the capacitance of 0.022 micro-Farads on Les Pauls. I stayed with these values, however, I replaced the ceramic capacitors with paper-in-oil ones. They made the guitar a bit less bright, more throaty sounding. Those big ones, with the "AMPOHM" brand. Â Cheers... Bence

James ODonnell
yeah looks great! but and about the sound?!( very low output? sounding like a strat? Â First question, very low output? I would never have called these low output, rather perfect output. Compared to EMG, they provide the big picture, the amps behave properly whereby the volume can have an effect on gain. Roll back to reduce it and crank it up as desired. Â Nothing like a strat. Nothing. Strats and Teles have their own ballpark and a semi-hollow Gibson has a better chance of getting close. 2014 LPTrad Ocean Blue w/59T's sounds like the iconic guitar recorded time and time again. It sounds like a killer LP. Â The pickup output is more for controlling gain, the volume and tone knobs, the neck pickup are mixed in (middle position) and gives the players a wide variety of tonal options. It is bright on the bridge pickup, heavy gain when cranked. Back it off to 8 and it changes it completely, add in 10% of the neck and it cuts the gain back, 20% neck and its same gain, but slightly warmer, 50% neck is warmer still, 100% neck&bridge is very full sounding. Â I say this having played all HSS guitars for 20+ years, never understanding how useful 2 humbuckers can be for carving tones. The LP Trad Ocean Blue w/59T's is an animal, born as a Les Paul and it won't let you forget it. Â If Gibson ever read any comments, it was buyers who advised Gibson that the Traditional, in fact should BE traditional. The 50s neck, radical sounds, no weight relief. A 120th Ann inlay is on the 12th fret and this drove all those same people crazy, not to mention the Blue color. But 2015 was a massive departure from traditional, and who knows where 2016 will take us.

And if Strats would sound like that I probably would own two Strats insted of two Lesters. If it is to low then probably its the amps fault. Good Overdrive/Distortion pedal can fix that. Not enough? Do it like Mr. Wylde and put active EMG in it. Or Dirty Fingers.
denis-brazil
cheers mate... but you already tried a 70's ls tone? like 74 randy rhodes? do u think with a plexi amp i can get a similar sound in my lp tradition 2014? i was considering a imperial lollar pickups set.. Mr. C.O. Jones
Hi Denis! I don't have any experience with that amp, but I found this video where the guy plays a 14 Trad through different amps. Â Â He starts playing at 3:30, I doin't understand a single word, well maybe humbucker and the like but it sounds good. Â Personaly I think you may need a good pedal to drive your amp into a higher gain territory! abot the settings I can't tell without knowing your amp. But Bass far up, mids try as low as posible and highs start maybe at noon and go up until it sounds good. And play with your tone and volume. Â Have fun experimenting. And try some pedals, this is like instant balls!
Mr. C.O. Jones
If its similar to the AC 30 it will have a superb beautyfull clean, perfect starting point for some good ol pedal dirt.
