Flying V guy
Does a registry exist for V2s?? I am interested to learn more about these guitars and where they have ended up since their release. I recently purchased a '79 and my understanding is that there aren't very many of these. Any help would be appreciated
cjsinla
I don't think there's a lot of love for this model. At the time they were made people were shying away from guitars with multiple pieces of wood. Also they had a new pickup design that did not catch on, by the early 80's Gibson was using higher output pups in V's and they were getting a rep as a heavy metal type of product. The V 2's couldn't keep up. They are definitely an oddity in my opinion and probably pretty rare, kind of like the antigua Strats that came out around the same time. They were also ignored but collectors are buying them now due to their rarity.
