ChopSuey
Hello all I currently own an Epiphone SG,but i am looking for an upgraded since in my band we play mostly 80's hard rock/metal music. I was thinking about a Gibson electric guitar since Gibson has excellent quality in their guitars. SO,i was checking an Gibson SGJ Vintage Sunburst for like 540 Euros. Do you think its worth buying? I read many reviews and almost all of them were positive. Best advantage is the maple neck that makes it very playable. Also,if i get one,do you suggest installing Burstbucker pickups? I saw the SG 70's tribute having the tone we play in our band. I believe putting the same pickups will help get the tone i like in my possible SGJ
Mr. C.O. Jones
Hello and welcome! I think that it would make more sense to buy the 70's Tribute, because you already know that it has the type of sound you want. And to save you money and time. SGJ, 540€ + two Burstbuckers 200€ = 740€ 70's Tribute out of the box with the sound you're looking for = 574€ And I think the 70's Tribute has a pair of Dirty Fingers not Burstbuckers. http://www.thomann.de/gb/gibson_sg_70s_tribute_hc.htm Greetz Marcos
