Blujag2013
Should I use wax or cleaner on a brand new SG standard or should I leave to cure for a while. It was made in February 2014 but only this month sold to me, so it has sat in its case for a year. Any views please.
btoth76
Hello! Wax? Not just any. Use polishes formulated for instruments. Cheers... Bence
cjsinla
You don't have to use anything if you don't want. they will stay shiny for years. I used to use Meguiers car wax/polish but probably have not done so in 20+ years. If you are gigging heavily and sweating all over it a coat of polish now and then will help preserve the finish. Polish cleans as well if you are concerned about dust and fingerprints.

When I change the strings, I will sometimes use a good polish when I'm at it. But don't use polish every day; that's actually not that great for the finish, especially in the beginning. Blujag2013
I did mean Carnuaba wax (gerlitz). Should I leave well alone for a while? Let the finish settle ? I think I'll just use a microfibre cloth and guitar polish for fingerprints .
