Strap Locks

I've never had a need to put strap locks on any acoustic. On my solid body elec's I use Dunlop's, and on my hollow and semi hollows, I use the Grolsch beer washer because I don't like the way the strap lock "intrudes" if you will. I also use Levy Suede leather straps and there's not a lot of "give" if you will. I think a lot depends on the type of guitar and the location of the strap pins - i.e. the upper bout of a solid body elec is going to get a lot more stress than the heel of the neck of a semi hollow body.

One tip though, if you are going to use straplock's, be consistent so that one strap works with all guitars.

Another vote for the Grolsch washer, although AFAIK it's no longer removable from the ceramic top. I've never popped a strap while using one, and lots of heavy hitters use them too. So if it's good enough for them...

I know the OP isn't keen on them, but I like their vibe.

I've seen comments where people report Schallers popping off. I've also seen quick connect set ups and I have seen first hand they pop off if bumped the right way.

they must not be using them correctly. I've used them for the last 10 years and haven't had an incident yet (knocking on wood)

Schaller Strap Locks with out a doubt. If they pop off they are not installed correctly. I have been using them since 1991 or so and never has one popped off. I have over 60 installed on my guitars and it the first thing I do when I get a new guitar.

Schallers fit Fenders and newer Rickenbackers.

What exactly pop's of? I use Schaller's and I think it is imposible that they pop of, at least not in this universe because of something called gravity.

The part that is attached on the strap has a U-shape, now correct installed the open part should look up.

And in this case the strap button lies in the bottom of the U, even when you don't put it in correctly (it makes a click sound) the button can't fall out.

The only possible way I could imagine that this system could fail is when you don't tighten the screw-nut at the strap correctly.

Agreed! A new guitar player I'm playing with had his front Schaller lock on the strap UPSIDEDOWN! I fixed it for him and told him that if he bumped it his guitar could hit the ground.

I find the straplocks on my Epi Trad. Pro to be really good as far as keeping the guitar from plummeting to the floor the second that you let go of it and try to adjust your mic stand or a pedal. The only straplocks that I have used other than that is the nylon Dunlop ones that are usually in a big jar on music store counters.I have several of them on even some of my pricier guitars and as far as I can tell, other than swinging the guitar in circles, holding onto the strap, they are not likely to give out if you have them put on and adjusted right.

I did a search once and laughed out loud when I saw this, but, I believe in a pinch, 2 or 3 of them together may work for a short while.

I used those for picks back when I was a kid.... They had a nice grip to them... Cut and file to shape
