fretprodigy
I own a music store in north east PA USA - and a customer brought in this gem. It appears to be an archtop from around the 1910's? I'm looking for more opinions and verification. Any identifying numbers have been worn away with age.

JimR56
Hi fp, Have you posted this in any other forums here (vintage, acoustic, etc)? Pre-WWII isn't really my thing, so I was hoping somebody else would chime in and try to help you. It's definitely pre-war, and looks like an L-series model. My initial reaction is that the guitar has been refinished, and the tailpiece (a later design) has been replaced. If you try a web search, there are vintage Gibson websites where you can probably find a match. I would do a search, but don't have time at present. Good luck. goaty76
It's an L-1 probably from the late teens or very early 20's. The tailpiece is not original but the bridge does look to be original. Hard to tell from the pics. These aren't the most popular guitars but I really dig them. Phil
