Sitedrifter
It all started in January when I got a call from my rep at Sweetwater.com telling me the just got #6 in Pelham Blue in. I bought immediately and 4 days later it showed up to my house. I am not going to get into it that much but the QC was poor and the workmanship was fitting of a chinese copy. In Short, I emailed Gibson Customer Service and Roger Ball responded with such a great attitude in wanting to help me. Roger escalated to the right people at Gibson and soon I was speaking with Mike Voltz of Gibson Memphis. Mike was super apologetic for the defects the guitar had (as well as the case) and was embarrassed to say the least. Mike asked me if I wanted to return it for a refund or send it back to the factory to be destroyed and have them build me a new #6. I jumped at the latter option and it was set into motion. Mike had also invited me down for a personalized tour of the factory if I was ever in town. I said I will come and get my DG335 in person when it is completed. 5 weeks later Mike reached out to me and said two were built and I could choose which ever one I want and it will then be numbered as 6 and the remaining one will be the last of the build order as it is now complete. I planned a road trip to Memphis to meet with Mike on Monday March 2nd. I was met by Mike and the fun began. He first brought me to meet Dave Winters the GM who seemed as excited to see me as I was to be there. I attribute that to the great respect these people have for their customer. From there, the tour began and for that, I am just going to post some pictures for your viewing pleasure. Look at what I spotted.... Red Aniline Dye and YEP, I TOUCHED IT!! Jayyj
Thanks for sharing, some great photos there. It's often the mark of a company not in the mistakes that slip through but in how the company deal with them when they happen - Gibson have not always been great at this sort of thing in the past but in your case they seem to have done a superlative job, and it must make your DG that little bit more special to have such a nice story attached to it. Good for Gibson!

bobouz
Love seeing guitars still being made in the USA, and by the company that created the originals. Thank you Memphis, Montana, and Nashville.
Sitedrifter
Here are some more pictures. You will see an original set list that Scotty Moore owned as well as his amp he used with Elvis. I played my guitar through that amp.. This is the one I chose to be #6 and pictures of it being numbered and labeled
