LoviesGuitars
Hello all! Hope you guys can help me out here. I have a Gibson ES-175 from what I believe 1971. I know the serial numbers get whacky from 70-75. I was told it was purchased in 71 but the serial says 73. Also, when I went to read the codes of the pots I can not read them because there are dust covers/shielding cans on them. I was also told from the original owner that is was all original. Weren't these only used in the 50s-60s? Is there any way that this guitar could have been made with these pots? It looks like the brown paint from the inside of the f-hole has gotten on the pot cover??? Any help or info would be awesome. The serial is 050082 and has the original yellow interior case. This has really got me stumped. Thanks again!!!!
cjsinla
I can't tell what you're saying. Did you put a mirror in there to check and saw nothing stamped on the bottom? I've never seen covers on individual pots, only a large cover/shield that covers everything. From your pics the pots look normal and I'm not sure about that brown paint in the F-hole. Try posting this topic down below in the vintage or instrument ID sections. Also, get a Photobucket account and post more pics there and give us the link see we can see more of the guitar.
