I already own a great Gibson les paul traditional 2014 kickass guitars but i was wondering to buy a new one if i should buy the les paul classic 2015

or the traditional 2015 i think they both great but can only afford one.

i heard the classic got 61 pickups so i pressume its better then the 59s from traditional.

Help me choose, besides i cant test them nowhere thats the problem :(

7-string Classic.

YES! I would love one of these, if only they had a proper set of 2 tone controls + the boost (like a Trad Pro), and it came in HB. I would be all over that like cheese on a BigMac.

sorry bro im more into the lp traditional or classic and standard is way too expensive :(

Is 2nd hand a consideration you could stretch to, in order to obtain a standard?

Of the two original choices you posed, I would go Traditional. I like the idea of the '59 pickups compared to the '61; when I've heard them the '59 has more of the PAF vibe and jangle, but that's me.

Just to throw another couple of balls onto the metaphorical court, there's the Custom Lite or the Les Paul Less +. Both of which are in the price range of a Trad / Classic, I believe.

Then, I'd go for the Classic.

It has a thinner neck (.800/.875), opposed to the Traditional's .900/1.00

It is also lighter a bit at average weight of 5.6 lbs. The Traditional is at 6.0 lbs on average.

The Traditionals have A+ top with enhanced body contour, opposed to Classic's grade B with classic contour.

The Classic has '57 Classic (7.92k Ohms)/Super '57 (8.72k Ohms) pickups. This combo is hotter.

The Traditional has a pair of '59 Tribute (7.65k Ohms) pickups.

Cheers... Bence

First of all! The pickups in the Classic are NOT 61 tributes. They are 57classic neck and Super57 Bridge. The 57's in the Classic are Much better pups...

I own a 2015 Gibson Les Paul Classic. I was torn between the 2 also. The Classic has much more tone options with the coil split and 15bd boast. The slim taper neck and the arch of the body allows for much faster playing. I have 3 les pauls one is a Zakk Wylde model yet I can shred much faster on the 2015 classic. even though the Tradionaal isn't weight relieved the heaviest Trad. I saw was 10lbs. The Classic has the tradional weight relieve but the one that I picked ways 10lbs 14oz. The pups in the classic sound much better as well. Some retailers ads say that the pups are 61 tributes but thats NOT the case. The pups in the 2015 Gibson Les Paul Classic are 57 classic neck and Super 57 Bridge, with alinco 2 magnets. That's what the Gibson website says are in the classic and I pulled the pups out of mine to check and they say 57 on them. The pups in the classic are a bit hotter than most of the other stock Gibson pups.

but i had a classic les paul 2014 and sold it for the traditional 2014 and thought the pups on the traditional were heavier is that possible?

The pups in the classic before 2015 were just the standard 57 classics. they changed out the bridge pickup and replaced it with the Super 57 that is hotter than then others. The super 57 output is 8.72 and the output of the 59 in the tradional is 7.65

I haven seen anything in the 2015 lineup that has hotter pups than the classic at 8.72, all the others are around the 7.65 or less. Plus the new wire they use does make a differance in responce. Don't get me wrong, I play alot of metal and do Zakk Wylde pince harmonics all the time and yes it's much eiser with hot pups. I have active ZW EMG's in my other les pauls but I am leaving my 2015 Classic stock. I had to work just a bit harder to get the harmonics on the classic but it took 2 minuets and I have no issue hitting them. On topofthat if you want a hotter pup gibsons new quick connect setup lets you just unplug the old pup andplug in a new one (if it's a gibson quick connect pu lol..) But gibson does make some really hot high output pups like the Dirty Fingers or the Tonni Iommi pups. I do believe that they are now sold with the quick connets on them.

The higher the number pickup the better it is. So you are right the 61 is better than the 59s which are better than the 57s

The pups in the 2015 Gibson Les Paul Classic are classic 57 neck and Super 57 Bridge. The adds saying 61's are a misprint. The gibson site says 57's and some retailers have fixed there adds to say 57's Not only did I speak to a Gibson Rep over the phone I took out the pups in mine and they are 57's. I don't know were you're getting the higher number means better pups. The output of the super 57 in the bridge of the 2015 Gibson les paul classic is an alinco 2 with a higher output than the 59's and 61's. It's even a higher output pickup than the burstbuckers.

I think you will be happy with the tone of the 2015 Classic. Mine is heritage cherry sunburst. My other les pauls have Active EMG's in them and My other guitars have seymor duncans. But my 2015 classic is staying stock. I play a good bit of the 80's metal that's what I grew up on and I have no issues playing that style on my 2015 Gibson Les Paul Classic. The pups are hotter in the 2015 classic than the 2015 Trad. That's why I picked the 2015 Classic. Let me know what you think of it and don't forget to put up some pics. when you get it..
