lolo_guitar
hi i read the burstbuckers pro were good for high gain ok for the bridge pickup but if you make a comparison between classic 57 / 490r and bb pro for the neck position? which one will a have the best clean sound, sustain ? i have a 490r but with sg and the sound is fat, jazzy and big with distorsion i think the les paul with bb pro will have a better clean sound in the neck position but i don"t know if the sound will be fat/big/warm enough with disto and if the bb pro is the best for blues/high gain/sustain for a LES PAUL my hero with a les Paul is Gary Moore

kidblast
I had the first generation of the BB pups. In my experience, no, they didn't do well when you tried to push them into this territory. I swapped them out for some Duncans, (SH1 and JB) and those are better for that stuff.
btoth76
Hello! If Your hero is Gary Moore, and that's what is guiding You, here is the Gary Moore Les Paul Standard: It has a pair of BurstBucker Pros. http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-USA/Gary-Moore-Les-Paul-Standard.aspx Cheers... lolo_guitar
490r seems to be very fat, loud i have it but with a sg when i listen a LP with burstbuckers, the sound seems brighter than the 490R but of course, not as fat and dark as the 490r but ok for a change because i already have a 490r i listen to a video of the les paul classic 2015 : opposite sound of the standard
kidblast
I like the 490r / 498t combo too. and I think the later burstbuckers (BB2, BB Pro etc) are probably better suited than what came with my 2002 standard
lolo_guitar
with my 490r i can play blues and jazz because it 's not a bright sound and i read the burst buckers pro have a bright sound one of my hero is Doug Aldrich too and his sound is not bright : he has pickups signature model
