weldaar
I have an 08 Epi Viola bass. Would anyone know what string length I would need, short, medium or long? BTW, I am not a bass player, I just picked this up for my church.
capmaster
This bass has a 30.5" scale which is closest to the 30" short scale. However, due to the space between string suspension and bridge, some 30" strings might be too short to reach the nut with full winding diameter. So perhaps medium scale strings could be required, but otherwise the winding should be tapered before the strings hit the machine heads. I hope that some members experienced with the Epiphone Viola Bass will chime in here. Otherwise I suggest asking a competent retailer. Finding the right string length can be dodgy. My Gibson SG 30.5" Basses call for 30" short scale strings, my 30" Fender Mustang Bass needs 32" medium scale strings of most brands...
weldaar
Thank you. I will wait for further replies before I order anything. I do know that the distance between the TP and the furthest tuning peg is 38-1/2"
