Silvercrow
Hi Everybody! I don't have any "short" stories, but I'll try to keep it short. An old friend of ours is a professional artist and sometimes woodworker. Part-time guitarist too! At one time he owned a '66 or '67 Gibson ES 125T, but it was stolen. Years later, somebody gave him another; that person tried to "refinish" it, and basically made half a poor effort and just up and quit. He gave the guitar to my friend; my friend gave it to me. He's getting up in years and told me "It's yours if you want it- see what you can do." So Here it is. The "Gibson" is gone from the headstock. The PUP, a P90- still works and seems very strong- plugged it in and tapped the pole pieces with a small screwdriver. The volume and tone pots still work, although scratchy. I don't have, and won't have the money to get it professionally restored. I have the machine heads, pickguard, and the truss rod cover (pics of them later) but the guitar is missing the bridge and tail piece. Any thoughts or suggestions welcome. I'd like to get it playing before my buddy passes. I really don't ant to sell it; probably wouldn't bring much anyway. AND I am kinda anxious to see how she'll sound. Shes good structurally- NO cracks, loose innards- neck joint is solid. I can read the serial number through the "F" hole- any ideas on who can date it via that number? I'm told it is a 1967. I WISH it were a same vintage LP Junior or single pup solid body, but hey...still kinda cool I think. Thanks- let me know what y'all think!
