Byrdland neck width

Most Byrdland neck discussions are about the 23.5 scale. I have gotten interested in them because of that scale but can't find one to try out. Some have said to try a 24" Fender (Mustang, Jaguar) to get an idea although they are awfully different guitars.

As you all know Gibson was the standard 1 11/16th nut width, except for that 1966-1970 (thereabouts, essentially the last half of the 60's) with the toxic 1 9/16th for most all models. But I am getting the impression that Byrdlands were 1 9/16th from the start, and remained that way until recently ... where the recent ones are 1 11/16th.

What say U on this topic... I know the 1 9/16th scene doesn't bother some folks but I have pretty small hands and I can't deal with it. If this is true then my choice of Byrdlands would be limited to recent ones.

I really only like sharp cut bodies, and that limits me to 1960s or recent ones, but then if all 60s ones are narrow neck, then I'm shopping only the recent model scene.

Thanks

RB
