Holasteve
Dear All My late father was a professional jazz guitarist and principally used a Gibson Birdland. However, he also acquired the pictured Kalamazoo in or around 1971 and loved it's sound. The guitar is pre-war and in excellent condition Can anyone identify it from the pictures and hazard a guesss as to it's value. My mother is considering selling it as it as she has no use for it beyond sentimental value and I do not play guitar. Many thanks in advance for any help. By the way it is located in Northern England.
Guest GarrettH
Very Cool! That appears to be a Kalamazoo KG-32 from '39 to '42.

Holasteve
Another thing. Does it make a difference to the value when the top is hand carved versus steam press. My father assured me this was a hand carved top. Steve
'Scales
Hi Steve. your Dad's guitar looks very nice. I'm no expert on these but would think its value is in its age and condition moreso than its construction. they were the affordable models for Gibson and had simpler construction as I understand it so there only going to be worth a percentage of their Gibson cousins' values (which is still something as Gibsons are of course well regarded in themselves). hopefully someone in your family takes up playing guitar as it's nice to hang on to these sorts of things if you can. best of luck,
