robertscott
Dating as in knowing when it was made, not taking it out for a romantic dinner (although I love it so much there's a real possibility I would do that...). Is there some way I can do it with the serial number?

j45nick
well, looks like I've answered my own question! http://www.guitardaterproject.org/gibson.aspx This decoder is not always so good for vintage Gibsons, particularly those prior to the late 1970's. If you have an old guitar that you need to identify, post a couple of pictures here, and give us any identifying numbers stamped anywhere on the guitar, including any on a label. There are people here who are experts on vintage guitar identification.

fortyearspickn
You should never date your acoustic. Second cousins are OK, though.
robertscott
Sorry for taking so long to get back to this, cheers for the replies. It's not a vintage acoustic, but it's pretty sexy all the same. A 2014 Hummingbird Rosewood. Probably the most beautiful thing on Earth.
