BDX Posted May 24, 2015 Share Posted May 24, 2015 I am fortunate to own these beautiful guitars. They're both extremely well built, have great playability and an amazing sound. Apart from the fact that both are archtops, they're very different (i.e. semi hollow/full hollow, Humbucker/P90s). The point is, despite that I really would like to, I can't keep them both. tweed2 Posted May 24, 2015 Share Posted May 24, 2015 As much as I like my Casino (my first Epi), I would keep my 50th Ann Sheri, if I had to choose. Now, I've never played a Guy Clark, and I've heard their build quality is high and they are more exclusive (like the 50th Ann), so I basing this off of my experience with a Korean Casino. If its in new condition, you could probably get more of your money back out of it while its still the hot new thing people are looking for. I did that with a 2015 Gibson Les Paul while it was still basically new. Only lost a couple hundred bucks instead of 5 or 6 hundred if I'd waited for it to be last year's model before selling it. I agree, I got rid of all my guitars when I married, even my expensive amp and regret it every day. Now 33 yrs later, I'm trying to rebuild what I had but buying better guitars. A little harder to do on a fixed income. Do what you have to do to keep both, they are very nice! But if you absolutely have to depart with one, I would sell the Humbucker. There are more differences with that reissue than with the current line and other than color, not that much different than with the current casino. Good advice to keep both. hollowdan Posted May 26, 2015 Share Posted May 26, 2015 I have sold guitars and mandolins on a number of occasions, but only when it meant purchasing another instrument that I had a great desire to play. I try not to spend new money on instruments, so I buy the ones I can afford as a result of money I have earned in the sale of guitars and equipment. What is important is which guitar you enjoy playing the most. That one is the keeper. The other will be gone so make sure you're happy with the one you keep. I would recommend keeping the Gary Clark, Jr., because you will have a more exciting piece for several years and it should continue to have a good resale value. Maybe I'm kind of weird. Maybe it's because the Casino is brand new while the Sheraton is mine for a while now. Or it's just because I'm seeing way more red guitars than blue ones. Does it change anybody's mind, when I tell you that the Sheraton had a broken neck about a year ago? It's professionally fixed and beside that it's in very good condition.
