Two great guitars - which one to keep? (Poll)

I am fortunate to own these beautiful guitars. They're both extremely well built, have great playability and an amazing sound. Apart from the fact that both are archtops, they're very different (i.e. semi hollow/full hollow, Humbucker/P90s). The point is, despite that I really would like to, I can't keep them both. It's a hard decision, but maybe you guys can help me by voting for one. Please don't take it too serious, it's also for fun.

As much as I like my Casino (my first Epi), I would keep my 50th Ann Sheri, if I had to choose. Now, I've never played a Guy Clark, and I've heard their build quality is high and they are more exclusive (like the 50th Ann), so I basing this off of my experience with a Korean Casino. As for the freaky tailpiece, I have other guitars with one, I changed mine. Certainly not a deal-maker (or breaker), for me.

The Gary Clark is a brand new model, right? If its in new condition, you could probably get more of your money back out of it while its still the hot new thing people are looking for. I did that with a 2015 Gibson Les Paul while it was still basically new. Only lost a couple hundred bucks instead of 5 or 6 hundred if I'd waited for it to be last year's model before selling it.

I would definitely try to keep both. I hate getiing rid of guitars. If you HAVE to get rid of one I'd get rid of the humbucker guitar. Chances are you have something else with humbuckers. Both are really nice!

I would have to agree with just about everyone else here when I suggest not getting rid of either...

that said, if you HAVE to choose between the two, my vote goes to the Sheraton.

You can always get a nice Casino but, a Sheraton with a "Freaky Satyr" will be much harder to find.

I agree, I got rid of all my guitars when I married, even my expensive amp and regret it every day. Now 33 yrs later, I'm trying to rebuild what I had but buying better guitars. A little harder to do on a fixed income. Do what you have to do to keep both, they are very nice! But if you absolutely have to depart with one, I would sell the Humbucker.

My vote is for keeping the Sheraton. There are more differences with that reissue than with the current line and other than color, not that much different than with the current casino.

Good advice to keep both.

Even on e-bay they might just fetch $500.

Either guitar will take a good loss of original value.

on one hand, a coming from a guy owning 20 guitars, I think it's safe to say, I'm the wrong person to advise you!

on the other hand,,,,,, If I *had* to make a choice, I'd hold on to the Sheraton.

Master Kahn said to a young Grasshopper:

"In one lifetime a man knows many pleasures: a mother's smile in waking hours, a young woman's intimate, searing touch, and the laughter of grandchildren in the twilight years. To deny these in ourselves is to deny that which makes us one with nature."

One can easily hear him adding ", and always keep all of your guitars..." to that wisdom.

I'm not sure what this has to do with your problem other than to encourage you to keep both and reveal my favorite 70's teevee show.

I have sold guitars and mandolins on a number of occasions, but only when it meant purchasing another instrument that I had a great desire to play. I try not to spend new money on instruments, so I buy the ones I can afford as a result of money I have earned in the sale of guitars and equipment. What is important is which guitar you enjoy playing the most. That one is the keeper. The other will be gone so make sure you're happy with the one you keep. I would recommend keeping the Gary Clark, Jr., because you will have a more exciting piece for several years and it should continue to have a good resale value. This is a tough decision, because the Sheraton is awfully nice!

Big thanks to all of you guys! I can't explain why, but the more people recommend to keep the Sheraton the more I want the Casino. Maybe I'm kind of weird. Maybe it's because the Casino is brand new while the Sheraton is mine for a while now. Or it's just because I'm seeing way more red guitars than blue ones. :-k

Does it change anybody's mind, when I tell you that the Sheraton had a broken neck about a year ago? [crying] It's professionally fixed and beside that it's in very good condition.

You won't find much resale value in selling the Sheraton withe the repair. Depending on why you can't keep both, if it's a money issue, selling the Casino would net you more.

Yep, even selling it would be problematic although I am sure it would go. Personally, I'd never buy any guitar that has had a broken neck no matter how well repaired. Illogical I know but just a personal policy.
