Tomastik Power Brights breathe life and volume and depth. If you see them on sale, grab a set. I think you'll appreciate them. If they're not on sale, grab a set.

What strings do you recommend?

After 40+ years of playing I've come to use LaBella strings exclusively on all my guitars, jazz, classical, rock, blues. Handmade in the USA.

No, they're not $3 a set, but as in most cases, you get what you pay for.

I favor 11 gauge Gibson Vintage Reissue strings for most of my electrics. I like the D'Addario 10 gauge flats too.

Late to the party here. For a long time I used Elixir Nano's on my elec's, with Cleartone's as a backup. Thought it worth an experiment to try something else. Went with EB Slinky's. Meh. Then tried EB Cobalt's! Woohoo. Crisper, brighter, and my new "string of choice". BTW, all my elec's are 10-46.

As for acoustics, it's still D'Addario EXP 16's, 12-53.

As L5Larry pointed out, you get what you pay for. No offense to anyone, but cheap strings are like cheap luggage. Looks good at the time but when you figure in the replacement cost, well, maybe not so attractive, no?

D'Addario XL

Here if Florida, strings in paper packs rust before you put them on the guitar.

The D'Addarios are in a recyclable plastic pack so they don't rust before I put them on, and they sound good to my ears.

I use ernie ball 10s, but I've yet to experiment with any brands other than ernie ball and d'addario. Any suggestions for what I should try first?
