J-Doug
Hi guys, Woody Mann asked me at Fur Peace Ranch this year to put more of "me" in my playing. So I learned one of the tunes from FPR called Lonnie's Guitar (loosely based on Lonnie Johnson's playing) and arranged a third chorus on my own. It's a fun exercise. This is my fourth time doing it and I find it very rewarding. That said, the performance isn't perfect but heck neither am I. Woody Mann's Lonnie's Guitar on a Martin 000-18MC recorded with a Zoom H2n. Third chorus arranged by me. https://soundcloud.com/tripleohdoug/lonnies-guitar I hope you like it. J-Doug
By coincidence I just finished an interesting article on Lonnie Johnson's playing by Wolf Marshall in the Sept. 2015 issue of Vintage Guitar Magazine. Recommended reading on a mostly forgotten master.
