Mike_L
To make a long story short, I found a deal too good to be true... and it was. A TP-6 Stopbar in gold finish for a ridiculously low price on eBay. The packaging looked authentic but it didn't fit well, the horns of the stop bar piece are misshapen, the "Gibson" and "Made in USA" are almost unreadable, and the screw slots were elongated. Also it was too thick and only the misshapen posts that came with it would fit. I protested to eBay and got a full refund, never hearing anything from the seller (huge guitar parts seller on eBay). I ordered another one direct from Gibson (they won't ship to Guam so I had to send it to my sister's house in NY). What's worrisome is the packaging was identical to the knock off and it wasn't until I opened the packaging that it was apparent I had the real deal. Nice crisp engraving, proper dimensions, sharp screw slots. No more special deals for me.

surfpup
No more special deals for me. I guess the old adage "you get what you pay for" applies here? As a bargain hunter (and general tight wad) I can totally relate.
