Junior Jr III
I really enjoy the acoustics. Older the better for me. I love the way the aged wood has a boomy sound. For the money, I can't think of a better guitar. Currently I'm trying out an LP standard and it's a lot of fun, so my opinion may change but the jumbo bodied older Epis are what I play out with mostly. Sleeko
My biggest, baddest and blondest of them all, the Elitist Broadway of course. It throws Epiphone chic at the Gibson L5CES and gets away with it . . .
tweed2
Well, if you are talking the best Epiphone ever, wouldn't it have to be the Casino?
Cyphre
Hard to say. Bang for the buck? Dot or Sheraton.
ErickC
Same as Gibson, Les Paul custom in alpine white. No riffraff. No overdone burst. Just right.
wiggy
If we go by all the classifieds then seemingly it's any Epi built in Korea because they're SO much better quality than anything from Japan or China - apparently! On a more serious note - are we talking Pre or Post GIbson Epiphone guitars cos there's a huge difference.

bobouz
Too many categories to pin it down definitively. Best electric? Best acoustic? Best pre-Kalamazoo? Best Kalamazoo-made? Best Asian-made? Most popular? Most significant historically? And so on.
burchster
That broadway looks amazing. For me it's the Sheraton hands down best most versatile guitar I own.

ambrs57
I'd rather say what is my favorite, rather than opine over what is best. I play and Epi SG-400 Korean made, which I picked up a couple of years ago second hand. I replaced the pups with a Duncon JB bridge and Dimarzio PAF neck. I love the SG neck and found that the Epi plays better than the Gibson 1972 SG Special I used to have (but which got ripped off from my house years ago). The Gibson had P90s and a great sound, but I am happy with my Epi. However, my go to guitar for playing live is my Epi Genesis Pro. I got the blue one (convinced my wife to let me buy it 'cause it's pretty, heh). I figured I would have to upgrade the pups, but after playing it for a few days I realized that would not be necessary. I really like the pro-buckers and see no need to swap them out. I like both smooth, jazzy sounds, and lots of dirt, and the Genesis does them both great. The Geni seems like a hybrid with an SG neck and a Les Paul type thicker body, though with a better cutaway for getting those high frets. Love that guitar so much I'm thinking of getting another one and putting P90s in, just for variety. Only thing missing is a Floyd Rose, so I am thinking about getting one of these http://www.stetsbar.com/.
Jeffery Smith
The 1960s Texan was a fabulous dreadnought for $169. Much richer in sound than the top of the line Martins. The Sheraton is my favorite Epiphone electric.
Dennis G
I'd have to say that my Elitist Casino (avatar) is my "go to" followed by my (highly modded) Dot, then Wildkat, then Gibby LP and so on. If acoustic, then my Masterbilt AJ500m, followed by my Ovation Elite LX Edit: just re-read the thread title. Forget references to other makes, my preferences remain the same. charlie brown
"Best?" Too subjective! Now, personal favorite(s)? I my case it would be my 1966 Casino, and my AIUSA Sheraton II...without a doubt! CB

'Scales
A Kalamazoo made mid-60's Coronet in Silver Fox colour is a guitar I'd enjoy owning (I have one basically the same but with a mini HB instead of a P90 and in sunburst).

Yeah, I've kind of drifted back to the acoustics for the most part. I think I've got a couple of the best non-cutaway EF Masterbuilts built. PNS and RAVS. Big tone makers.... . . ErickC
The Japanese Epiphones are the same as Orvilles, but with a different name on the headstock. There is no comparison to anything built in Korea. The Japanese models have the correct headstock, correct body thickness, SAE hardware, 2-screw truss rod cover, and the correct headstock binding and overlays (on top of the headstock, not routed under the nut). The only real difference between a Japanese Epiphone and a Gibson, besides electronics, is the lack of nibs and the polyurethane coating. Also, LP customs and whatnot will still have rosewood fretboards in lieu of ebony.
ccblademan75
1438817984[/url]' post='1682733']How do you know which ones where from Korea? I would have agreed with you until I bought my Slash Rossa Corsa played the Gibson & Epiphone NO difference whatsoever besides the price tag..... And the Thayer blows my mind, probably because I'm a Duncan guy and it has two JB's and grovers over Kluson. I'd say (just my opinion of course) whoever Gibson is putting in charge of QC now is doing the job....
