Zentar Posted August 4, 2015 Share Posted August 4, 2015 There's a closeup of lennons unfinisged(stripped) Casino in Steve Bubiack's book "Beatles Gear" clearly showing the nylon saddles on the Revolution Casino. Lennon stuck gold Grovers on the headstock leaving the holes showing from the original two hole traditional tuners. The tuners weren't even aligned correctly.The gold didn't match the other hardware. He even stuck a black Fender looking volume knob on that didn't match the other knobs The bridge saddle pic I got from a file foto. That is a 60s Gibson bridge though. . I also had a set of Gibby Deluxe Traditonal tuning keys laying around which I'm going to stick on my new Epi Casino. I think he used them too although he stuck on a set of Grovers on too. The Paperback Writer Casino was different from the Revolution Casino. BTW I saw on Sweetwater the Lohn Lennon Casino is no longer available. apparently people were buying Naturals and modding them to lennon specs. Shame on them. The John Lennon Casino is no longer available because it is discontinued as it was a limited run. I was mocking myself. Besides why let Gibson have all the fun modding up a guitar. Gibson's re=ceation was no closer to being exact than mine is. actually, Epiphone's USA Lennons were pretty close to the original. of course they didn't add unnecessary screw holes in the headstock (they weren't trying to make an exact copy). the finish was a single dull coat of laquer to make it have the sanded look. it also came with the black bell knob to replace a gold one if you wanted to. more of a reproduction than a recreation. I thought that was a really neat re-creation. They didn't sell many. I guess most players thought it was a bit much. I thought it was iconic of the psychedelic period in US history in 1967. I wonder how many young people know today that our country had a short psychadelic period 48 years ago. Even Saturday morning children's cartoons were using colors based on illegal drugs. Hstory is stranger than fiction. Meanwhile we were having musicians dying from LSD use but it was seen as hip, clean, exciting and fashionable.
